chick one born last night!

Postby Alfaasil » Sun Jul 25, 2010 11:27 am

yay so 2nd time round lucky we have 1 succesful hatch so far. We woke up to its chirping (or rather my partner did, i could sleep through a bulldozer) so i dont know when exactly it was born although it was a day early than due so came at a suprise, thing is non of its siblings have been born yet so its all on its lonesome and im reluctant to put it in the brooder alone. But because i dont know when it was born i dont know when its 24 hours are up in the incubator. I dont want baby to starve so should i just put it in the brooder this evening? Or sooner? Thanks :hatch:

Congratulations! The baby won't starve - they should be OK for around 48 hours after an on-time hatch.

mums a tux so could be. Are they easy to sex? Because we got her just on the basis we were told she was female, which she is, but visually i couldnt tell. She doesnt have speckles just her little white tummy and she a light pinky brown not dark.

You need to vent sex non-standard colours; there is an article on here to show the difference between the boys and girls. Congratulations on the hatch

yes! Chick 2 was born last night at 11 and i got to watch the whole thing this time, which was great. Its nice to watch the miracle of something being born without the pain of it all! Anyway after fluffing up and drying off he is in the brooder with his sibling cuddling up to a teddy. Was going to post pics but unfortuatley my laptop is broke so im mobiling it.
